Simply Glamorous Skin
Maintaining a clear complexion is essential in entertainment, as is keeping skin properly hydrated and moisturized. There are some tried and true techniques for stand-out skin. The experts at Glamour magazine provide some insight into some of the essentials.
Rest up. It’s important to get around eight hours of sleep every night. Getting an adequate amount of rest will prevent undereye bags and circles and create an overall healthy look.
Massage your skin. Yes, you can buy facial massagers. But, you can also save yourself from the sticker price and simply massage in your moisturizer. Applying facial lotion using circular motions will increase circulation, which in turn, creates a more even appearance.
Wear sunscreen. Especially when it’s extra sunny, but even when it’s overcast. Applying sunscreen not only protects against sunburn but prevents drying, wrinkles and leather-like skin. Skip indoor tanners, too. Sun rays and heat lamps can be extremely damaging.
Indulge in citrus and chocolate. Sound too good to be true? Perhaps, but it’s not. Dark chocolate is full of antioxidants. Lemons help your liver and kidneys, and any snack loaded with Vitamin C will promote collagen production and decrease wrinkles.
Exercise. Working out induces circulation and delivers oxygen to the skin. No time? A small amount each day is better than nothing. Try parking a little further from the office, taking the stairs rather than the elevator, or clearing your head with a leisurely nightly walk.
Drink water, then drink some more. You really can’t get enough H2O. The benefits of water consumption are endless. Skin-wise, it’ll help you stay hydrated, preventing drying and wrinkles. Try switching it up a bit with cucumber slices, some lemon juice or a handful of fresh fruit.
Don’t forget about tea, either. Tea, especially green tea, is full of antioxidants and adding it to your diet may slow down the skin’s aging process.
Exfoliate. Exfoliating increases circulation and cleanses away acne and dry patches. Following up with a pore strip can eliminate blackheads as well.
Give your skin a break. Have a day to yourself? Nowhere to go and no one to impress? Skip the make-up. Or, try simply eliminating foundation and powder for a few days, leaving your skin exposed to the air, able to soak in oxygen. Having a few bare days here or there can prove to be very beneficial.
Wipe and spritz. If you’re going to be on the road all day, keep a few facial wipes and a hydrating spritzer handy. Wipe your face clean as needed and apply a few sprays to keep skin glowing.
Although life in the limelight can get very busy, it’s important to remember to take care of yourself. These simple steps will ensure you are putting your best foot forward.
