Always wanted a thicker, more voluminous, mane?  Preparing for an audition that requires it?  Well, you’re in luck.  It’s actually easier than you may think to fake a full head of hair.  Just follow these at-home tips.

Pick up a volumizing shampoo. One of the quickest ways to add body to your locks is to start using a volumizer.  Not all products will do what they claim they will on the bottle, however.  It’s best to skim through reviews first or ask your hairstylist for one that will do the job.

Apply a thickening mousse. Another product you’ll want to keep on hand if you’re after fuller hair is a mousse that volumizes.  Again, make sure you pick up one that’ll actually do the job, and apply the mousse while your locks are still wet from a shower for best results.

Skip washes. Oftentimes, when you first awaken in the morning, your hair is puffier than normal. Instead of taming the knots, only gently brush and skip a wash, adding some dry shampoo to any oily areas.

Try a root lifter. While you’re applying dry shampoo, you can also purchase a root lifter, which is designed to increase volume at the base of the scalp.  Doing so will naturally make the rest of your locks look more luxurious.

Get the right brush. You’ll want to keep a round brush handy that comes equipped with a heat protectant.  This tool is an essential add-on to your blow-drying routine.  Simply wrap sections of your hair around the brush and dry the area until a thick, semi-curl bounces off the bristles.

Use Velcro rollers. These can easily be applied to damp hair at night for amazing A.M. results.  Let hair dry around the rollers and remove when you wake up.  You’ll instantly have thicker-looking locks.

Work the hairspray. Hairspray can be used as a booster.  After brushing and curling, if desired, apply while gently crunching each section to create fullness.

Get a new ‘do. Your hairstylist is an expert when it comes to accomplishing your goals.  Schedule an appointment and ask for a ‘do that will make your hair look naturally thicker.  Of course, you’ll likely have to follow up with some of the styling steps at-home after your appointment.  But your stylist can trim your locks just the right way to jumpstart your journey.

You don’t have to be born with naturally voluminous hair or even apply extensions.  A few simple tricks and you’ll have thicker-looking locks in no time flat!
