Teen Vogue is one of the best resources for young adult fashion and the trends that are ruling the season. When flipping through the pages readers will see glamorous pictures of models showing off tops, outerwear, accessories, bottoms and other items from various designers. If you’re interested in becoming one of these models yourself, it doesn’t have to be just a dream. There are a lot of things you can do to make this a reality, starting with step 1.

Step 1. Gain Experience

There are many models who are driven to work for Teen Vogue, which means you need to be a step ahead of the competition by learning exactly how to walk, pose and stand. One of the best ways to gain experience is by taking a class, or attending a meet and greet but you could also watch videos online or even read modeling books. If you take advantage of every learning method there is, then you will be much better prepared for Teen Vogue when the time comes.

Tip: Practice, practice, practice! Make it your new hobby to model, whether you’re putting on an outfit in your closet or are walking down the runway for a local designer!

Step 2. Meet with a Office Director at the Nine9 Office

The will assemble your portfolio with you, create a comp card, and take measurements. They may choose to sign you right here, and that could very well lead to a job with Teen Vogue in the future.

Tip: Keep checking in to be sure you are submitting yourself to castings and auditions.

Step 3. Look for Casting Calls

Teen Vogue often posts casting calls for models online, so stay on the lookout for these throughout the year. If you find them, then first make sure you fit the description of the type of person they are looking for. You may not be the right fit for them all, but don’t worry because more opportunities will arise throughout the year. If the casting call is a perfect fit, then show up early and bring your portfolio with you to have the greatest chance of success.

Step 4. Approach Positively

If you do end up getting a gig with this magazine, then be positive and friendly with every person that you come in contact with. From the receptionist to the photographer, you should maintain a professional yet friendly attitude. Be on time (or early), show respect and don’t ruin your appearance with a “diva” mentality. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions about the shoot you will be doing so you can show up as prepared as possible. The details are incredibly important with even the smallest modeling sessions, so gain as much insight into the situation as you can before you actually get there.

Becoming a model for this magazine can be a great accomplishment and something you treasure for many years to come. It can also be a stepping stone to bigger and better things, making it a great place to start! Take your time and enjoy the process, because modeling can be a lot of fun!
