Glamorous On-the-Go Up-dos
So, you were asked to be the maid of honor at your best friend’s wedding. You’re the guest of honor at an event. Or, maybe you’re simply the hostess with the mostest. Whatever the case, you need to look glam, which means, you need a glamorous up-do. The only problem? Time! Your schedule is jammed packed and you can’t afford a lengthy trip to the salon. Can you pull off a quick and easy ‘do at home? Of course, you can! Here are some suggestions.
Try the Loose Pony. Loosely gather hair in a pony, let some tresses fly and frame your face, then secure. Curl both the ends of the phony and the fly-aways, and ta-da! It looks like you took some major time to achieve a voluminous look within minutes.
An Old-School Twist. Do you still have a munchie from back in the day? Perfect! Twist your locks with ends facing upward, while pushing hair high enough to create a modern beehive complete with piece-y layers. Secure, then cover the device with still-free tips. Use a fine-toothed comb to guide the sides. Finish with a spray to hold everything in place. Time? With no curling or pinning involved with this one – easily under two minutes.
Part Prior to the Party. Sometimes, it’s really all in the way you do your part – literally. If you have long, or nonexistent bangs, part hair down the middle, grab one side and keep loose. Pull the rest tightly back in a mid-way bun. They even make gadgets for quick-and-easy salon-quality buns (see Pinterest or your local drugstore). Then, take the stray hair, pull it across your face to the other side, coaxing the ends back. Pin into the bun, and wall-la! You’re good to go.
Be a Ballerina. An alternative to the low-bun is the very high one. Dancers have this one down. And, it’s very simple, really. Pull hair into a tight, high pony. Twist the pony into a bun and spray to hold.
When in Doubt, Use Jewels to Distract. Grab an inexpensive headband split down the middle and adorned with cubic-zirconia jewels. Place it in the center of your head and move forward slightly to bump up the front. Or, pull a fair amount of the front hair down in front, and curl the ends. Grab an “invisible” holder – think, clear band or one that matches your locks – and pull the back portion into a high pony. Curl ends or wrap into a bun and secure with bobby pins. The shiny jewels will automatically make this simple ‘do look glamorous.
