Finding Dory is the upcoming Disney Pixar sequel to the 2003 hit movie, Finding Nemo.  Finding Nemo was not only a hit in the box office making over $936 million, but it has gone down as an animated classic.  It even won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2004 at the Academy Awards.

In the first movie, viewers follow a clown fish named Marlin on his journey through unfamiliar waters to search for his lost son Nemo.  The characters he meets along the way shape the adventures and hold a lasting impact on viewers of all ages.  Nemo the lovable clown fish is timid at first, but he learns to overcome fear and uncertainty after being captured by a diver and placed in a fish tank. His worried father searches far and wide to find Nemo with the help of other fish he meets on his journey.

The most important character that Marlin meets is an amnesiac fish named Dory.  Dory is voiced by Ellen DeGeneres, and her short term memory makes for very interesting adventures when she decides to accompany Marlin on his journey.  Together they brace the deep ocean waters, and they become great friends while they look for Nemo.  Finding Dory is focused mainly on Ellen DeGeneres’ character.  It is about Dory and her search to find her family.  This animated movie takes place six months after the events of Finding Nemo when Dory begins to recall childhood memories. She realizes that Marlin and Nemo are great new friends, but she wants to find her own family.  It will surely be a dramatic journey filled with comedy and excitement.

The sequel was announced on November 25, 2015, with Ellen DeGeneres publicly stating on The Ellen DeGeneres Show how excited she was about the announcement.  “I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, time,” Ellen said.  “I’m not mad it took this long, but the time they took was worth it.  The script is fantastic.  And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is – it’s got a lot more Dory.”

Finding Dory opens in theaters nationwide on June 17, 2016 in 2D, Disney Digital 3-D and RealD 3D.  It will also be released in IMAX theaters across the country.  The hype level for this overdue follow-up movie to one of the best animated films is through the roof.  Film critics and fans expect this sequel to be one of the biggest hits of the year!
