The upcoming feature film “Apopka” (working title) is preparing to start filming and seeking local residents interested in being background/extras.
This biographical film will feature Sydney Sweeney, recognized for her roles in Euphoria, The White Lotus, Immaculate, and The Handmaid’s Tale. Sweeney will portray the iconic female boxer Christy Martin, whose life story serves as the film’s central theme.
Produced by Black Bear and Anonymous Content, the film will be directed by acclaimed filmmaker David Michod and will delve into Christy Martin’s rapid rise to fame in the boxing world, along with her personal struggles and triumphs.
Filming is set to take place in Charlotte and the surrounding areas from late September to mid-November. This is a great opportunity to be a part of a powerful and inspiring story.
