When the name Gigi Hadid pops up, many may surely struggle to come to terms with the lightening place by which she has risen to be among the current top models in the world. Her Rise to the Top of the Modeling World
Without forgetting to mention that she is only 20, Gigi is a blonde beauty born to a rich family in an affluent neighborhood of Los Angeles. Some 18 months ago, the American model was firmly in the “up-and-coming” category with some noticeable campaigns already on her impressive C.V. as well as a growing social media presence. At that point, some may have said that Gigi’s modeling career and success was already on the way. At a tender age of two, Gigi had already been spotted by Paul Marciano of Guess.
Her stagnation was perhaps due to her decision to take a break from modeling to concentrate on her studies. After that, her modeling career took off where she had left it. This has seen her represent some of the industry’s biggest brands including Tom Ford, Sonia Rykiel and Dolce and Gabanna. Her rise as one of the most recognizable faces on the runway is said to be due in part to her relatable social media presence and the bond that she creates with her adoring fans. She has more than 7 million followers on Instagram alone, which makes her a force to reckon with.
While Gigi’s connection within Hollywood and the highest echelons of fashion industry cannot be ignored, her acumen for the business side of modeling industry cannot be downplayed. Her mother is Yolanda Forster, an A-list former model and Hollywood actress. Yolanda is married to mega music producer, David Forster, while her father Mohamed Hadid is a real estate entrepreneur reported to be worth around $200 million. The good looks genes seem to be running in the family with her younger sister, Bella Hadid, also one of the upcoming top models.
Nevertheless, Gigi has surrounded herself with professional managers and seems to seamlessly understand the importance of moving between mass and class. Her commercial side and high fashion sense are probably some of the things that have pushed her this far. Many leaders in the fashion industry are also reportedly impressed with her work ethics and dedication to the industry.
Gigi’s Milestones
When talking about her milestones, it cannot be assumed that she made her breakthrough in 2014. Apart from becoming one of the new faces of Victoria’s Secrets models, Gigi starred in many campaigns. She was one of the 16 top models to be featured in the annual swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated. This was after having signed with IMG Models and resuming her work with Paul Marciano.
Early in 2014, she debuted on the New York Fashion Week for Desigual. She also appeared on the covers of the highly respected Vogue Magazine for its covers of two Teen Vogue as well as Spain Vogue. Apart from being the face of Guess, Gigi has also appeared on the cover of CR Fashion Book, starred in a campaign for Tom Ford’s fragrance and eye wear and is the newest face of Maybelline.
To cap it all, Gigi was named the Model of the Year at the Daily Front Row’s Fashion Awards.
