Netflix’s “Jessica Jones” Casting in New York

According to MCU exchange, a casting call breakdown has recently been posted and Casting Directors are now casting speaking roles, recurring rules and day player roles for the hit Netflix TV series Jessica Jones.

Jessica Jones is a television series created for Netflix by Melissa Rosenberg, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the films of the franchise and is the second in a series of shows that will lead up to The Defenders crossover miniseries. Krysten Ritter stars as Jessica Jones, a former superhero who opens her own detective agency. Mike Colter, Rachael Taylor and Wil Traval also star.

Specific casting instructions for Netflix’s “Jessica Jones” have yet to be released so stay tuned.


A version of the series was originally in development by Rosenberg for ABC in 2010, which was eventually passed on. By late 2013, Rosenberg reworked the series, when it reentered development for Netflix as A.K.A. Jessica Jones and Ritter was cast as Jones in December 2014. Jessica Jones is filmed in New York City, in areas that still look like old Hell’s Kitchen.

Below you’ll find the breakdowns for each of the characters Casting Directors are seeking:

Dr. Kirby: 60’s, male, any ethnicity, scientist & freethinker, series regular.

Presley: Late 30’s, Male, African American, intelligent, driven, self-assured.

Oliver: 34-38 years old, male, Latino, artistic, paternal, smart, scruffy, series regular.

Ingrid: Early-mid 30’s, 5’8 – 5’11, female, dark hair, attractive and edgy, has a history of living on the streets. Educated as a nurse, but street-wise. She is attracted to men and women.
