6 Ways to Prepare for Your Commercial Shoot as a Model

As a model, you know that commercial shoots are a big deal. They can be your ticket to fame and fortune, or they can be a total flop. To ensure that your commercial shoot is a success, here are six tips to help you prepare.

1. Familiarize yourself with the concept and style of the shoot

If you’re going to be a success on set, you need to understand the concept of the shoot and what the client is looking for. Do your research ahead of time so that you know what to expect.

You can ask the director or art director for more information about the shoot. Once you know the style of the shoot, you can start to prepare your hair and makeup appropriately.

2. Prepare your wardrobe and props well in advance

Your commercial shoot will go much smoother if you have your wardrobe and props ready to go in advance. This way, you can avoid any last-minute scrambling and be confident that you look your best.

Have everything laid out and ready to go the night before the shoot. This way, you can just focus on getting yourself ready and feeling confident on the day of the shoot.

3. Plan your poses ahead of time

Posing is an important part of any modeling gig, and it’s especially important for commercial shoots. Take some time to plan out your poses beforehand so that you know what to do when the cameras start rolling.

Once on set you may be asked to improvise, but it’s always helpful to have a few go-to poses in mind.

4. Practice in front of a mirror until you feel comfortable with your motions

Get comfortable with your poses and practice in front of a mirror until you feel confident. This way, you’ll be able to execute them perfectly on set.

You can google “model poses” for ideas and inspiration. As well as search for instructional videos on YouTube.

5. Get plenty of rest and eat healthy foods leading up to the shoot

A big part of looking good on camera is feeling good, so make sure you get plenty of rest and eat healthy foods in the days leading up to your commercial shoot. This will help you look and feel your best when it’s time to shine.

6. Be familiar with the location where the shoot will take place

If you can visit the location of the shoot in advance so that you know what to expect. This will help you feel more comfortable on set and make sure that you’re prepared for anything.
