3 Surefire Tips for Helping Your Resume Stand Out
Helping Your Resume Stand Out – 3 Tips
You may know the basics when it comes to putting together an acting resume but could still be wondering what some secrets are to creating one that stands out from the rest. Here are a few tips that will help your submission make it to the top of the list.
Here is the first way to help your resume stand out.
The last thing you’ll want to do is leave anything pertinent out that could prevent a client from getting a hold of you should they feel you’d be a good fit. So, make sure that you include your full name, address, phone number, and a website address or any social media handles that you believe best represents your work. You’ll want to place all of this information right at the top so it’s easy to spot.
Here is the second way to help your resume stand out.
Creating a logo for your brand (which is essentially how you want to represent yourself as an entertainer) is a great idea. If you have one in mind, draft it and add it to the top along with your contact information. Not everyone will have a logo at the top of their sheet, so this is a great visual way to grab attention. If you would like to include a logo but are unsure where to start, think of aspects of yourself that would be well-represented in picture form. If something comes to mind, how can you incorporate it into a solid branding strategy?
Here is the third way to help your resume stand out.
Another way to get noticed it to add in out-of-the-box experience and skills. Before you type anything onto that blank sheet of paper, consider whether there is some niche that you have been itching to pursue. While your pursuits may not be the key to getting you the spot you’re seeking every time, there will likely be some opportunity along the way in which you’ll be thankful you added it in. Think about activities you enjoy outside of the acting realm. Maybe you’ve always wanted to become well-versed in martial arts, kickboxing, or yoga. Perhaps you’ve wanted to take up horseback riding or learn to maneuver a motorcycle. If you’re feeling extra adventurous you may want to take on an activity that is a bit outside of your comfort zone. Whether you start small and work your way up to the more unfamiliar or dive right into something intense, placing special talents on your paperwork could be a really good selling point.
When gigs are posted, there are sometimes thousands of resumes that pass through a casting director’s desk. You’ll want to make sure yours stands out in a big way. By ensuring you have the right information in ink and adding a few extras, you’re sure to catch the eye of those in charge of booking. And, if you’re one of the lucky few to secure a spot, you’ll be able to continue building your resume along the way!
